Birthday party
We had a wonderful time celebrating Chase's birthday back home in Lampasas. We celebrated on Saturday, September 15th, two days before Chase turned one. We had a wonderful turnout of family and friends for our Very Hungry Caterpillar themed party. Of course the best part was watching him eat his birthday cake. He ate it so slowly and seemed mesmerized by it. He would grab small pieces in between his thumb and forefinger and would lick his fingers pretty much in between every bite. He received lots of neat gifts, especially books and toys. Hi first molars started breaking through on the bottom, skipping the canines for now. The left one broke thru within a day or so of his actual birthday and the right one broke thru a day or two after that. I can see the outline of his next set of uppers so we will see how that goes.

Words: doggy, dada, gaga, ducky, star, God, he tries to say something that sounds like Dixie and Carly, he has also said mama but really isn't calling me mama yet, clock, and fire (sort of) for the fire engine in his books
On his actual birthday I took him to Dr. Cheng for his one year exam and then we flew back to El Paso. :)

Changes
Chase has finally started using the baby sign for milk. I was pretty excited about it. I have tried off and on for months but he never seemed interested. Yesterday while reading one of his nursery rhyme books, I was singing twinkle twinkle little star to him and "twinkling" our stars...which is basically like doing the baby sign for milk just with your hand turned differently. He started doing it along with me. I got excited and realized I could get him to use that to sign milk. He picked up on it right away. He seems excited to be able to communicate with me in this way. Today he pointed at his straw cup for the first time to tell me that he wanted something. :) very cool and I am truly enjoying watching him grow and change daily.
